October Owes a
Lot to Trump
Welcome to the October edition of the News in Review poetry series. Once again, a lot happens in a month, and so there was far more to include than I had space to fit in this piece. (Many may argue that I still put too much in…) But I have tried to include a balance of the good, the bad, the ugly, and the fun. Trump played a big part in the events of October 2025, (Or at least he claims he did) Having apparently brokered peace in every country you could possibly think of, even the ones that are still at war…. So read all about that, as well as plenty of more upbeat (and truthful) news to show that October wasn’t all just hot air.
I will add a disclaimer that this piece was written by me; a British poet, and as such will be recording and commenting from news in a British perspective, which might mean some events you consider important from October 2025 are not included, and some things you have never heard of are more extensively covered.
Thanks Trump!
I’d like to start by giving thanks
To Mr Donald Trump,
Whos efforts brought a ceasefire
To Gaza this month
Without him, we’d have struggled,
But the second his support
was withdrawn from the agressors
Israel had second thoughts.
About the siege
On Gaza city…
Now they sit at the border being petty,
Making excuses
for shattered promises,
And broken truces,
Facing no sanctions
For treaty violations,
Or war-crimes,
Or genocide,
Or months
And months
Of restricted aid.
They had Greta deported
Again
And again,
But no punishment for them…
Not even a fine
To help rebuild the Palestine
They destroyed.
Just happy two state solutions
Weren’t employed
They sit, and slowly
Annex the West Bank…
And remember we have Donald Trump to thank
For another peace negotiation
On Russia’s Ukraine invasion
That never actually happened
But at least Putin was sanctioned…
I guess…
Trump’s begging China to do the rest.
Whilst he focuses on Cambodia
And Thailand…
Where again peace was given
By his divine hand
And his hand alone,
Shame he can’t do the same at home,
But, due to major disagreements,
The U.S. Government’s closed…
Isn’t that convenient…
Meant he could put attention
Into rigging Argentina’s election.
Rachel Reves fails an inspection
on her renting agreements,
Yet another labor law infringement
Kier Stamer’s political contingiant
Makes Farage’s job too easy
Sat waiting for mistakes he
Can criticize,
Although that death threat did leave him terrified,
Allegedly…..
Attenborough wins an Emmy
For revealing orangutang’s secrets on telly
The oldest to ever sucessfully claim the award
Strictly loses Tess and Claude
As they announce they’ve danced their last refrain
Israel are at it again,
This time against Lebanon
Alowing greed to egg them on
As they fail to hide their reasons.
Madagascar hit by treason,
The military is seizing
Power, overriding
The president, who’s in hiding
To the joy of the population
An elation not shared by Pakistan
Whose war with Afganistan
Sees border casualties
Oh, and there are yet more atrocities
In the Sudanease
Civil War.
Booker announce a prize for children’s fiction
Bardenoch calls for human rights restrictions
The Kingdom of Kubala face another eviction
From their “ancestral home” in a Scottish woodland
Pizza Hut close half their stores,
England ban multi buy offers
Whilst Trump looks into a VP clause
To win a third presidential term
Hurricane Melissa rips through the Carribean
Climate change striking yet again
The Pope speaks up to condemn
Global warming naysayers
(People like America’s
Secretary for energy
Chris Write,
And R.F. Kennedy,
You know… Idiots from the right…)
Brazil wants oil from the Amazon
The Christmas island shrew is gone
And the world Conker champion
Is crowned in Northampton
That sounds like fun one
To participate in.
The Louvre deals with a break in,
French crown jewels are stolen
And the burglars escaped on
a cherry picker,
Made by German firm Böcker
Who were grateful for the publicity.
In good news, renewable electricity
Has overtaken coal based energy
as the worlds largest power source,
New solar farms force
Their way across the East Midlands
Igonring environmental concerns
About loss of wetland Habitat
Because Milliband has a target that
Says we need net zero… Whatever the cost.
We had to deal with the loss
Of Jane Goodall, Patrick Murray,
Sybil Fawlty, and Hyacynth Bucket
But consolation came our way
When Ian Watkins found an early grave
I wouldn’t usually be so blazè
About a man whose passed away,
But lets be honest,
It’s not like he’s going to be missed.
A few moments in the limelight
Does not give anyone the right
To be a pedophilic blight
On society,
We have enough of those already,
Trump
Loses the nobel Peace prize
Machado wins it, to many sighs
Of relief
Zelensky has beef
With the U.K.
British parts in Russian drones
Does parliament condone
Arming the invaders of our allies?
Or did they just not realize
Where those shipments were going?
Our country’s greed is showing
Through the cracks in our broken promises
And the lack of Russian resorces
We said we’d confiscate to fund the fight
But changed our minds,
And now Pokrovsk might
Fall
Andrew, that’s his name now, looses all
His titles, land, and house
Reform kicks a pile of councilors out
For questioning party leadership
Yet bigots get to keep the whip
Pochin’s ads want all white casts,
But she’s not racist, glad you asked,
She simply hates a multicoloured screen.
Thinks black and white (without the black) is all that should be seen…
Chat GPT becomes obscene
Tik Tok’s pushing porn on Teens
Farage is mad at Labor’s schemes
For stopping immigration,
One in, one out, then straight back in
The channel’s getting crossed again
By virgin trains (I’m not sure when)
But options are a good thing.
Landlords feel the sting
Of justice
Renter’s rights bill passed at last
The common man prevails
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sent jail
Late fees get charged to royal mail
And France’ PM tries to bail
But Macron pulls him back
Thousands of new Chinese maps
Were stopped in customs, then got axed
For stating facts,
Taiwan is not Chinese…
In the U.S.
A shortage of pennies
Is driving up prices,
Or was that the taxes
And tarrifs that trump is
Slapping wherever his dart hits
Pushing everyone into new markets
As American infants starve
The internet was cut in half
When Azure broke, exposed the farce
Of Microsoft’s monopoly
The centre for cyber security
Suggests paper files
Couldn’t be hacked so easily
Outside the Swedish Tesla factory
A picket line’s two-year anniversary
Means yet more bad publicity
For moody man child musky
Who refuses to acknowledge
The unions, want’s them abolished
For creating negetivity
Within his company
Oh the Hypocrisy…
From the man who funds Tommy Robbinson
Mr half a trillionair
Does’t want a lords vs peasants affair…
But guess what, we’re already there
The curtain’s up, the stage is set
So give us the head of Musky Antoinette!
